Love
February is the month we celebrate Valentines Day and Love. So it feels fitting that this month Love is what is coming through to share with you.
Love is very mysterious. It is often hard to describe or define. Love either is or is not at all. A lack of love is not at the opposite end of lots of love. Love just IS. How we are affected by it is determined by when and how we receive it. How we give it is determined by what we learn from it.
The fact that love can cause pain is sometimes confusing to us. Or that people we love leave us. Or when we try to make ourselves love or not love someone in our past or present. How does love work?
Love works best when we get out of its way. Because love has no beginning and no end, it is a constant flow. Pain and disappointment come about when we form an attachment to an expected outcome and it is unfulfilled. In other words, when we disallow love to just BE.
The understanding of this concept requires us to tap into that part of ourselves that is governed by our Divine Will. When you get it, then you know you have a connection to this part of your spirit. It isn’t easy. It takes courage, hope, faith and practice to get there. This is the part of us known as the Buddha-nature or the Christ-like spirit. It is what these ascended beings have been trying to teach us for thousands of years. (We really can be slow learners, can’t we!) It is in this space of our Divine Will that we recall our eternal connection to all things and all people so our human need to define and control love (and our relationships) cease.
LOVE EXERCISE:
Write down all the people you can think of that you love or have ever loved whether they are presently in your life or not, alive or transitioned.
Light a white candle.
Say this prayer: “May the Divine Creative Force of Love expand within me to bless each experience and each person who has connected me to Love by showing me what it is or isn’t so that I can stand here now, grateful to know Love.”
Sit quietly for 10 minutes, just breathing. Allow the energy to ebb and flow around you. When you feel complete, burn the list outside in a safe place. Place the ashes in an area where they return to a water source or sprinkle in the dirt. Journal your thoughts and feelings, releasing any emotions that arise.
Love is by nature creative and expansive. We grow because of it. We cannot direct it, it just happens. Think about things you may have said or heard about love, ie: “Falling In Love”, “Love At First Sight”, etc. We can choose many responses to love, but love is an unchanging energy flow from the Creator.
As you consider how you respond to Love, think about whether or not you:
- Choose to be loving or unloving to yourself or others
- Ignore love
- Deny love
- Embrace Love
- Fear Love
I had a client ask me yesterday, “Why do I have problems showing love to others?”
Learning the true concept that Love IS can help us give and receive love. In this way, we truly understand that it does not belong to us, we only experience it. If we are gifted with the feeling of Love and know that we are only standing in it, we can more easily share it with others. Try it.
Tell the people you feel love for that you love them. See if you expect to hear it back, or if it just feels good to say it. Let it expand you.

Soy Candles
Did you know that paraffin candle wax is derived from petroleum and emits harmful vapors and carcinogens when burned? I did not know that until I purchased an air purifier for my home that included a warning against burning them due to the toxic nature of their fumes. Upon discovering this, I went on a research crusade.
I learned that a healthy alternative to paraffin candles is soy candles. Many soy candle products will also be partially paraffin, so you have to be careful to read the label. I found a company that supplies you with everything you need to make your own from a 100% soy product. They have wonderful scents, jars, and other items too.
